St George, UTDr. Rick N. Nordgren is a board-certified, retina-only ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for the full spectrum of retinal and macular conditions. His clinical focus includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, and other causes of sudden or progressive vision changes. He earned his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University and completed medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he participated in ophthalmic research and publications. After an internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, he completed ophthalmology training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and received recognition as a senior resident, including the Senior Resident Teaching Award and the Silver Scalpel Award for surgical excellence. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Retina Institute of Indiana and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.

She strives to explain complex diagnoses clearly and partner with patients and families on a plan that protects sight and quality of life. Dr. Gensure completed combined MD/PhD training at Rutgers, focusing her graduate work on medical image analysis, machine learning, and informatics. She then completed ophthalmology residency at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University. Her clinical practice spans diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, macular disease, retinal tears and detachments, and complications related to the vitreous. She offers the latest evidence-based treatments and surgical techniques and remains active in education and research through an adjunct appointment with the Moran Eye Center.
