Dr. Eileen Bowden is a board-certified ophthalmologist at the Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute who specializes in glaucoma, cataracts, and anterior segment disorders. Dr. Troy Gurney is a glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon who cares for patients with the full spectrum of glaucoma and complex anterior segment disease. He offers both medical and surgical treatments, including combined cataract–glaucoma procedures, and tailors every plan to a patient’s vision goals and lifestyle. Patients value his clear explanations, practical guidance, and calm, team-based approach to long-term eye health. After earning his M.D. at UT Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Gurney completed ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine and advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. At UT Southwestern, he sees patients in Fort Worth and Dallas and works closely with optometrists and referring physicians to streamline care and recovery. His interests include challenging diagnoses such as pseudoexfoliation and plateau iris, and he is experienced in complex lens and anterior segment surgery. Rebecca Chen, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in medical and surgical care for glaucoma, as well as cataract surgery. Dr. Chen earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute, where she was voted Chief Resident. She received advanced training through a glaucoma fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where she was a Heed Fellow. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025 and previously served on the faculty at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Chen has published peer-reviewed academic articles, contributed to the book Emerging Ocular Infections, and presented at regional and national meetings related to her areas of expertise. When she’s not at work, Dr. Chen enjoys exploring local foods, hiking, traveling, trying new hobbies, and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Mohammad Pakravan is a glaucoma specialist whose practice includes medical, laser, and surgical care for glaucoma as well as cataract and refractive surgery. An associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, he is known for offering modern, minimally invasive options and for clear explanations that help patients choose the procedure that fits their needs and lifestyle. Dr. Pakravan earned his medical degree and completed ophthalmology residency and a glaucoma fellowship at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. He then completed advanced glaucoma training at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also holds an MBA from Westcliff University. His expertise spans MIGS and implant-based procedures as well as cataract and laser vision correction, allowing many patients to reduce drops while maintaining excellent vision quality.

Dr. Rupak Dhoot is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who cares for patients in the Texoma region. He completed medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas at Houston Medical School and a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute, where he received advanced training in complex glaucoma and cataract surgery. Corey Waldman, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Sabates Eye Centers, serving patients in Kansas City. He specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, and complex anterior segment cases. Dr. Waldman is a Kansas City native returning home after practicing in San Antonio for the past seven years. He attended the combined six-year BA/MD program at University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He also completed a glaucoma fellowship at Boston University. In 2017 he joined the ophthalmology faculty at UT Health San Antonio where he was an associate professor, the director of the glaucoma service, the assistant residency program director, and the director of medical student education. He has performed over 5,000 surgeries including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), traditional glaucoma surgery, and complex anterior segment cases, and has extensive experience with premium intraocular lenses. He has presented his research on glaucoma and cataract surgery at numerous national conferences. Dr. Waldman is a member of the American Glaucoma Society. He speaks fluent English and Spanish and is committed to providing the highest level of eye care to his patients. Outside of ophthalmology, he is a guitarist with a focus in the jazz and blues genres and enjoys hi-fi and vinyl records. He lives in Leawood with his wife and son.
