Dr. Osman Cengiz is an ophthalmologist with broad international experience who brings a patient-first, detail-oriented approach to care. Born and raised in eastern Turkey, he trained in Istanbul after medical school and went on to serve as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, performing thousands of vision-restoring procedures. He later refined his surgical skillset in a vitreoretinal department and has continued to expand his expertise through advanced subspecialty training. In 2024, Dr. Cengiz completed a fellowship in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery at Albany Medical College/Cornea Consultants of Albany. He now continues his training as a fellow at the Charles Retina Institute, where he contributes to high-volume, complex retinal care while maintaining a compassionate, team-based style. Dr. Cengiz is also a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) and has volunteered abroad providing cataract surgery in resource-limited settings. He strives to match leading-edge techniques with thoughtful counseling so patients feel informed and supported at every step.

Dr. Matthew Hartman, MD is a cataract, cornea, and external disease specialist who helps patients achieve clear, comfortable vision with individualized surgical planning. He performs cataract surgery with advanced lens technology to address astigmatism and presbyopia, provides refractive surgery options, and offers corneal transplantation (DSEK/DMEK) and ocular surface reconstruction. Patients appreciate his calm, collaborative style and clear explanations before and after surgery. Dr. Hartman graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Chemistry from Southern Adventist University and earned his MD at Loma Linda University, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee’s Hamilton Eye Institute, then a cornea and external disease fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver. Originally from the Nashville area, he is proud to care for patients close to home while delivering modern, evidence-based treatments.

Dr. De La Huerta is an ophthalmologist at Vanderbilt Eye Institute who treats adults and children with retinal diseases. She cares for patients with conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, and retinopathy of prematurity. Patients also see her for urgent symptoms like flashes and floaters or eye trauma that may signal a retinal problem. Her training includes a medical internship at Harvard Medical School and an ophthalmology residency at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. De La Huerta is also a clinician-scientist whose work explores how photoreceptors may contribute to retinal vascular disease, with the goal of improving prevention and treatment. She is committed to clear communication and shared decision-making, and she can provide care in English, French, and Romanian.
