A Portland native, Dr. Chen completed college at Rice University and earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She trained in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital and pursued fellowship training in cornea at Wills Eye Hospital. She is delighted to be back caring for the community where she grew up.

Dr. Roma Pegany

Portland, ORDr. Roma Pegany is a cornea and external disease specialist at the Casey Eye Institute. She diagnoses and treats conditions that affect the cornea and ocular surface, offering medical therapies as well as surgical options such as corneal transplantation and laser vision correction. Dr. Pegany earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, followed by fellowship training in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the Casey Eye Institute, where she received the Fellow of the Year award. Lake Oswego, ORDr. Jacqueline Ng is a board-certified ophthalmologist dedicated to delivering compassionate and excellent clinical and surgical care to her patients. She was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2026 by Portland Monthly Magazine. Dr. Ng specializes in both comprehensive ophthalmology and cornea procedures. She is a skilled surgeon in cataract surgery and advanced lens implant technology, and she performs a variety of corneal procedures. She joined Oregon Eye Specialists in 2015 and now practices with EyeHealth Northwest. Her training includes an ophthalmology residency at OHSU, where she was recognized for her community service, and a cornea and refractive fellowship at UC Irvine, where she served as a clinical instructor. Dr. Walter Kunz

Eugene, ORDr. Benjamin Kunz completed his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, graduating in 2010. During medical school, he engaged in ocular research and co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles with leading experts in the field. He pursued advanced training through an ophthalmology residency at the Ross Eye Institute, SUNY University at Buffalo, where he served as chief resident and received the Most Outstanding Resident award. His residency involved presenting research on ocular surface disease, corneal infections, and refractive surgery at national meetings. Dr. Kunz further specialized with a fellowship in Corneal and External Disease at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, University of Oklahoma. There, he performed hundreds of surgeries, including the latest corneal endothelial transplantation (DMEK), and studied factors affecting graft success. He now offers comprehensive eye care, specializing in laser vision correction, cataract surgery with advanced intraocular lens implants for astigmatism and near vision, and various cornea transplantation techniques to help patients achieve better vision with reduced dependence on glasses.

Dr. Ashlin Joye
