He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Stephan G. Dixon is a glaucoma and cataract surgeon serving the greater Cincinnati area. A Cincinnati native, he blends meticulous surgical skill with an easygoing, down-to-earth style that helps patients understand their options—from medical therapy and laser procedures to advanced cataract surgery. He strives for durable pressure control and clearer vision while minimizing recovery time and medication burden. Dr. Dixon completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (Chief Resident) followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Eye Institute at Indiana University. He is board-certified and active in the American Glaucoma Society and AAO. Dr. Robert J. Purgert is an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who provides comprehensive, patient-focused eye care for adults in the Cleveland area. A native Clevelander, he completed medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, returned home for residency training at the Cleveland Clinic, and pursued advanced subspecialty training in glaucoma at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Chen graduated from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and completed internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati, where he served as a rotating chief resident and received the Residency Award for Outstanding Achievement in Humanism and Clinical Care. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at The Ohio State Havener Eye Institute. Dr. Megan M. Chambers is an ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and cataract treatment. She joined Central Ohio Eye and Plastic Surgery in 2015 and focuses on providing comprehensive eye care with a patient-centered approach. Dr. Chambers earned her undergraduate degree from Kenyon College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Molecular Biology and Italian. She attended medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her internship at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, her residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Havener Eye Institute, and a glaucoma fellowship at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. As a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Ohio Ophthalmological Society, Dr. Chambers is actively involved in the ophthalmology community. She participates as a sub-investigator in a national surgical glaucoma study, demonstrating her commitment to innovative treatments. A Columbus native, she is happy to serve her hometown and is accepting new patients at the main downtown location.

As an ophthalmologist, I want to make sure my patients fully understand their conditions so they can take an active role in their health care. After the initial visit, we start a comprehensive treatment plan that might involve medical and traditional surgical therapy in addition to newer laser technologies and minimally invasive surgical techniques, depending on the patient's unique situation. I specialize in treating glaucoma (open angle, angle closure, secondary), cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and dry eye. At Ohio State, I enjoy the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of therapies, a broad and diverse patient population, and the chance to train future ophthalmologists. In my spare time, I enjoy watching films with my wife, spending time outdoors and cheering at sporting events with my children.
