Dr. Jeffrey Moore

Portland, MEDr. Jeffrey K. Moore is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who evaluates and treats conditions affecting the vitreous and retina. He cares for patients with retinal disease such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular degeneration, and severe eye injuries, and he aims to provide clear guidance so patients understand their diagnosis, timing, and treatment options. Dr. Moore is a graduate of Bowdoin College and received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. After a medical internship at Brown University, he completed ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Prior to joining Maine Eye, he served on the Bascom Palmer faculty as chief resident and director of emergency services and ocular trauma. Dr. Moore is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and serves as an assistant clinical professor at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Jessica Watson

Bangor, MEJessica Watson, MD is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the retina and vitreous. She cares for patients with conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration, and she offers both medical and surgical treatment options based on each patient’s needs. Dr. Watson completed fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and ophthalmology residency training at the Scheie Eye Institute. She earned her medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Before joining the Bangor community, she practiced in Portland, Maine. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children and exploring the outdoors.

Dr. Jackie Nguyen

Portland, MEDr. Jackie K. Nguyen is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients with retinal and macular conditions that can threaten vision. She chose ophthalmology because it blends intellectually challenging problem-solving with delicate microsurgery, and she values the long-term relationships that develop when patients and doctors work together over time. She finds the work especially meaningful because preserving and restoring sight can make an immediate difference in daily life. Dr. Nguyen completed her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She then completed fellowship training at the University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and at Tufts Medical Center with Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. She partners closely with patients and referring eye doctors to coordinate care for both routine and complex retinal concerns.

Dr. Anthony Ekong

Bangor, MEDr. Anthony S. Ekong is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical retina and uveitis—conditions that affect the retina, vitreous, and the inflammatory tissues inside the eye. At Retina & Uveitis Consultants of Maine, he focuses on timely evaluation and treatment to help patients protect and restore vision. Dr. Ekong earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed an ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center. He completed fellowship training in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Retina Vascular Center in Houston. His care includes laser treatment and intravitreal injections for conditions such as wet macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and uveitis. He has participated in overseas medical missions and values compassionate, patient-centered care.

Dr. Richard Bazarian

Portland, MEDr. Richard A. Bazarian is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who focuses on diagnosing and treating complex retinal conditions. He cares for patients with macular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments, and he brings extensive experience with both vitreoretinal surgery and office-based injection and laser procedures. His goal is to help each patient understand what is happening in their eyes and what treatment options can realistically achieve. Dr. Bazarian completed undergraduate studies at Princeton University and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. After additional surgical training, he pursued specialized retina training with residency and fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He has served as a medical educator, hosting trainees in the clinical setting, and has held leadership roles within ophthalmology and health system departments.
