Dr. Jeffrey Berman

Portland, MEDr. Jeffrey L. Berman is a fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive care for eye problems in infants and children. He treats conditions such as eye muscle imbalances and blocked tear ducts, and he helps families understand the best path forward—whether that means careful monitoring, office-based treatment, or surgery when needed. Dr. Berman also evaluates and treats strabismus and double vision in adults. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency training at Montefiore Medical Center–Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then pursued fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of Kentucky. In addition to clinical care, he serves as a consulting ophthalmologist for the neonatology unit at Maine Medical Center, evaluating the eye health of premature infants.

He manages the full spectrum of medical and surgical retinal disease, from age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy to complex macular and vitreous disorders. He values careful examination, state-of-the-art imaging, and thoughtful discussion so patients understand their diagnosis and the reasons behind each treatment. Dr. Lippincott completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He studied philosophy as an undergraduate at Emory University and completed a master’s degree in physiology at Georgetown University before earning his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. At Eyecare Medical Group in Maine, he offers both clinic-based care and advanced microsurgery designed to preserve and restore vision.
