Dr. Lisa Tom is a comprehensive and glaucoma ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), incisional glaucoma surgery, and ophthalmic lasers. She employs the latest technology in cataract treatment, including premium lenses that reduce the need for glasses. Fellowship-trained in complex glaucoma procedures such as trabeculectomy and tube shunts, her expertise was honed during her ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Tom earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Princeton University. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has published research in Ophthalmology Glaucoma and other peer-reviewed journals. She has presented at international and national conferences including the World Ophthalmology Congress and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Recognized as a "Rising Star" by Castle Connolly Top Doctor for three consecutive years, she is also fluent in Spanish and has performed cataract surgery for patients in El Salvador and India. Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Dr. Tom values time with family and friends, and enjoys hiking, travel, and cooking outside of her medical practice.

Dr. Lindsay E. Dawson is a fellowship-trained cataract and glaucoma surgeon who cares for patients across the Washington, DC area. She focuses on the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of glaucoma, tailoring plans that may include the latest minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries as well as laser therapy or traditional procedures when appropriate. In addition to glaucoma care, Dr. Dawson performs cataract surgery and utilizes advanced technologies—such as femtosecond laser assistance and premium intraocular lenses—when they can help address astigmatism or presbyopia. Raised in New York, Dr. Dawson earned a Bachelor of Science at Lehigh University and completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. She trained in ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute at Penn and completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Duke Eye Center. Patients value her clear communication and warm, patient-centered approach, and she enjoys partnering with individuals and families to protect sight and quality of life.

Elyse J. McGlumphy, MD, is a glaucoma specialist whose practice spans medical, laser and incisional glaucoma care as well as cataract surgery for patients with co-existing disease. She completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in glaucoma at the Wilmer Eye Institute. After fellowship, Dr. McGlumphy joined the Wilmer faculty as an assistant professor before returning to community practice. Her clinical interests include newer surgical technologies and long-term outcomes in glaucoma. She has an active research portfolio with a focus on home intraocular pressure monitoring (iCare) and diurnal IOP patterns, and she has delivered national and international lectures. With a clear, measured style, she helps patients understand the spectrum of options—from drops and laser to MIGS and filtering surgery—so treatment can be tailored to disease stage and lifestyle.

Dr. Jonathan Katz is an ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including both primary and secondary glaucomatous diseases. He provides comprehensive evaluation and long-term care, and has experience with traditional glaucoma procedures such as trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device implantation as well as newer minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). He also performs cataract surgery and laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK and PRK. Dr. Katz received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with distinction. He completed ophthalmology residency training and a glaucoma fellowship at the Emory Eye Center at Emory University. Dr. Katz joined the Katzen Eye Group in 2019 and focuses on building strong, long-term relationships with patients as they work together to manage glaucoma over time.

Dr. Alexander Baten-Tschan is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma. He is passionate about laser-assisted and complex cataract surgery, finding great satisfaction in achieving precise outcomes for his patients. His clinical focus also includes the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, utilizing both minimally invasive techniques and traditional incisional surgery. Dr. Baten-Tschan believes in a team-based and patient-centered approach, ensuring each individual's needs are met with the best possible solution. He treats patients holistically, providing supportive care to help them improve and maintain their eyesight. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Baten-Tschan enjoys staying active through sports such as soccer and hockey and is a dedicated fan of DC sports teams. Dr. Heran Winta Gebreyesus is a general ophthalmologist with a special focus on glaucoma care. She sees patients at University of Maryland Ophthalmology locations in Baltimore and Columbia and is part of UM Faculty Physicians. Dr. Gebreyesus completed medical school at Howard University College of Medicine, followed by internship and ophthalmology residency at Howard University Hospital. She then pursued subspecialty training in glaucoma at the University of Colorado Anschutz campus.

Alanna James, MD, is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients with all stages of glaucoma. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Andrews University and completed her medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where she also finished an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency. Dr. James pursued advanced subspecialty training in glaucoma at the University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute, refining expertise in both established and minimally invasive procedures. At Mitchell & Morin Eye Institute, Dr. James tailors treatment plans that balance safety, effectiveness, and long-term vision preservation. She has particular interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and tube shunt procedures, and is skilled in managing complex cataracts, including combined cataract–glaucoma cases. Committed to access and equity in eye care, she enjoys partnering with patients and referring providers to simplify next steps and support continuity of care. Outside the clinic, she enjoys racket sports, experimenting in the kitchen, and attending live concerts.

Dr. Teresa Horan is a glaucoma specialist. She is experienced in treating mild to severe glaucoma with various medical and surgical treatments. Her individualized care plans offer the full range of available treatment options, including medications, lasers, and the most effective surgical procedures for protecting vision and enhancing quality of life. A believer in humanistic and compassionate care, Dr. Horan values building a relationship with each patient and providing education specific to their condition. She wants to work with patients to determine the best course of treatment for them. In her free time, Dr. Horan enjoys swimming, cooking and traveling.

Russell Huang was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in his father's practice. He completed his undergraduate training at Brown University with a Bachelor's degree with Honors in Biology and Biotechnology. His love of technology started in high school when he founded a computer consulting company that helped small businesses as well as physicians' offices modernize their computer and network systems. He graduated from Northwestern Medical School in Chicago where he met his future wife. He completed an internal medicine internship at University of Chicago's Northshore University Health System in Evanston. As an Ophthalmology resident at Northwestern, he won the Ophthalmology Resident Teacher of the year award, served as Chief Resident during his final year of training, and did microbiology bench research on the microbiome of chalazia (styes). Following residency, he completed a Glaucoma fellowship at Northwestern, and is a board-certified ophthalmologist by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) as well as the American Glaucoma Society (AGS). Dr. Huang is excited to bring his expertise and experience to the practice. His priority is to foster strong, long term relationships with his patients in order to provide the highest quality care.
