Indianapolis, INDr. Charline Boente is a pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for children with eye conditions that affect vision, alignment, and eye development. Before medicine, she began her career as an engineer, and she brings that same systems-minded problem solving to clinical care—paired with a strong focus on listening and working with families. She sees patients at Riley Hospital for Children and also provides care at Eskenazi Hospital. Her practice includes evaluation and surgery for strabismus, pediatric cataracts and glaucoma, anterior segment anomalies, optic nerve abnormalities, and neurotrophic keratopathy. She performs regular retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) examinations and directs inpatient ophthalmology consult services at Riley. Dr. Boente is also involved in clinical research, including work with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG), with interests that include ROP and corneal neurotization.
