Dr. Laura Andaluz-Scher is a pediatric ophthalmologist who partners closely with families to help children see comfortably and confidently. She provides thoughtful, age-appropriate exams and explains findings in clear, reassuring language so parents know what to expect and how to support treatment at home. Bilingual in Spanish and English, she welcomes patients from diverse backgrounds and focuses on creating a calm, kid-friendly visit for each child. Her clinical interests include lazy eye (amblyopia), eye misalignment (strabismus), and blocked tear ducts, as well as comprehensive eye care for school-age vision issues and teens. When surgery is needed, she outlines options and recovery steps so families can make informed decisions. Dr. Andaluz-Scher completed medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center. She believes that early diagnosis and consistent follow-up are the keys to protecting vision during the most important years of visual development.

Dr. Charline Boente is a pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for children with eye conditions that affect vision, alignment, and eye development. Before medicine, she began her career as an engineer, and she brings that same systems-minded problem solving to clinical care—paired with a strong focus on listening and working with families. She sees patients at Riley Hospital for Children and also provides care at Eskenazi Hospital. Her practice includes evaluation and surgery for strabismus, pediatric cataracts and glaucoma, anterior segment anomalies, optic nerve abnormalities, and neurotrophic keratopathy. She performs regular retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) examinations and directs inpatient ophthalmology consult services at Riley. Dr. Boente is also involved in clinical research, including work with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG), with interests that include ROP and corneal neurotization.
