Dr. Ravi R. Pandit is a fellowship-trained, board-certified retina specialist who cares for patients with diseases of the retina and vitreous. He completed ophthalmology residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins and pursued advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Pandit also holds an MPH, supporting a comprehensive approach to patient care and outcomes. In addition to managing complex retinal disease, Dr. Pandit has a special interest in surgical retina and ophthalmic trauma. Jonathan F. Russell, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa and a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for both adults and children. He believes retina specialists have a unique privilege to use both mind and hands to restore sight, and he treats the full spectrum of retinal disease. Dr. Russell completed both his medical degree and doctorate at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by an internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital. He went on to ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at Bascom Palmer. His clinical interests include complex retinal detachment repair, pediatric retinal surgery, severe ocular trauma, posterior uveitis, advanced retinal imaging, and emerging approaches such as retinal gene therapy. Dr. Austin L. Strohbehn is a board-certified, fellowship-trained retina specialist who provides medical and surgical care for diseases that affect the retina and macula. He treats conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal tears or detachment, with the goal of preserving vision and helping patients stay active and independent. A native Iowan, Dr. Strohbehn earned a B.S. in Biology from Iowa State University and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. After completing an internship at the University of Missouri, he finished ophthalmology residency at the Mason Eye Institute at the University of Missouri, serving as chief resident, and then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the same institution. He enjoys applying modern techniques to retinal care and is committed to clear communication so patients understand their diagnosis, options, and follow-up plan.

Dr. Sushant Wagley is a vitreoretinal surgeon who joined Iowa Retina Consultants in 2022. He provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for retinal conditions, with a focus on evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient's lifestyle and vision goals. His patient-centric approach, recognized by the Harry Plotke Award during residency, ensures that patients receive careful explanations and compassionate support throughout their treatment journey. Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, and raised in Michigan, Dr. Wagley completed his vitreoretinal fellowship at VitreoRetinal Surgery (now Retina Consultants of Minnesota) after serving as Chief Resident in ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. He is deeply involved in research, having conducted two years of clinical research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School and published multiple peer-reviewed articles. Passionate about global health, he has worked to establish a hospital in rural Nepal and taught retinal surgery techniques in Timor Leste. Dr. Wagley is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the America Nepal Medical Foundation, and The Society of Royce Fellows. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, and skiing with his family and friends.

Dr. Timothy M. Boyce is a vitreoretinal surgeon at University of Iowa Health Care who cares for people with complex medical and surgical retina conditions. He involves patients in shared decision-making and has special clinical and research interests in uveitis and inherited retinal diseases. In clinic and in the operating room, he treats disorders such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, and retinal detachment, and performs advanced vitreoretinal surgery tailored to each person’s needs. Dr. Boyce earned his MD from the University of Oklahoma and completed ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. He then pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Iowa. He also holds a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Miami.

Dr. Paul S. Boeke is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who has cared for patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic as a retina specialist since 2017. He enjoys working one-on-one with patients and values the opportunity to use both medical expertise and surgical skill to help protect vision. Dr. Boeke earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency training at the University of Missouri Health Care and then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. He presents on retina topics such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and surgical techniques, and he participates in research studies and scientific publishing in ophthalmology.

Dr. James R. Singer is a board-certified surgical retina specialist who focuses on diseases affecting the macula, retina, and vitreous. He evaluates and treats a wide range of retinal conditions, and he works closely with patients to explain what is happening in the back of the eye and what treatments may help protect or restore vision. Dr. Singer earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency training through Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Metro Health Hospital. He then completed an AUPO-accredited fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Associated Retina Consultants in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to clinical care, he has been involved in education and scholarly work, including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and contributing to ophthalmology textbook chapters.

Dr. Riley S. Bylund is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients across Iowa with both medical and surgical diseases of the retina. Based in West Des Moines, he treats a full spectrum of conditions—from common problems like diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration to complex retinal detachments—and performs advanced procedures including intravitreal injections and modern vitreoretinal surgery. Patients see him at multiple Wolfe Eye Clinic locations statewide, where he is known for clear communication and a steady, team-oriented approach to care. Dr. Bylund earned his BS at Brigham Young University and his medical degree at the Medical University of Kentucky, where he graduated with high honors. He completed ophthalmology residency at the Mason Eye Institute (University of Missouri) and advanced subspecialty training in the Wolfe Eye Clinic Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program. Dr. David J. Massop is a board-certified, fellowship-trained retina specialist who cares for patients across central Iowa with Wolfe Eye Clinic. He enjoys helping people preserve and restore sight, and sees patients in the Ankeny, Marshalltown, Fort Dodge, and West Des Moines locations. A native of Des Moines, Dr. Massop earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and environmental science from Saint Louis University and completed his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. He then pursued an internship at UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Dr. Massop completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio before undertaking a vitreoretinal fellowship at Wolfe Eye Clinic, where he joined the professional staff in 2022. He welcomes both new and established patients for comprehensive medical and surgical retina care, and is known for his friendly, team-oriented approach to patient communication. Outside of clinic, he enjoys time outdoors with his wife and three children.
