Dr. Shauna Berry is a board-certified ophthalmologist and the only fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist in Southwest Florida. She provides subspecialty care for patients with vision problems related to the brain, optic nerve, and eye movements, and offers strabismus surgery for children and adults. Dr. Berry completed ophthalmology residency at Larkin Community Hospital/Nova Southeastern, followed by fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology at Houston Methodist and in adult and pediatric strabismus at UCLA Stein Eye Institute. She collaborates closely with referring physicians to uncover the cause of unexplained visual symptoms and design clear, step-by-step care plans.Her practice combines advanced diagnostics with thoughtful counseling so patients understand their condition and options. Dr. Julia Byrd is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for children and adults with strabismus across the Tampa Bay area. She diagnoses and treats amblyopia, eye misalignment, pediatric cataracts, tear duct disorders, retinopathy of prematurity, pediatric uveitis, congenital eye conditions, and ocular trauma. Families appreciate her calm, thorough explanations and her focus on creating treatment plans that work in real life for growing kids and busy caregivers.Originally from New Mexico, Dr. Byrd graduated cum laude in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University and earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She completed ophthalmology residency at the John A. Moran Eye Center, University of Utah, and advanced fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Before settling in Florida, she cared for children at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and later practiced in Montana. Dr. Byrd is committed to friendly, accessible, and precise care—whether prescribing glasses, guiding patching therapy, or performing delicate eye surgery.

Dr. Mariana Abi Karam is a pediatric ophthalmologist who sees children for routine and complex eye concerns and also treats adults with strabismus. She speaks English, Arabic, and French, and welcomes families from many backgrounds. Her practice blends careful measurement, age-appropriate testing, and thoughtful counseling so parents and children understand both the diagnosis and the plan. With fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus, and medical retina, Dr. Abi Karam offers medical and nonsurgical treatments as well as eye muscle surgery when needed. She partners with pediatricians, therapists, and schools to support visual development and classroom success, and she follows patients closely to keep kids comfortable and confident as they grow.

Dr. Betul N. Bayraktutar is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with advanced expertise in pediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus, and corneal and anterior segment disorders. At Wills Eye Hospital, she cares for children and adults with conditions ranging from amblyopia and strabismus to complex corneal disease that may require transplantation. Patients value her careful explanations and calm, family-centered approach to planning care. Dr. Bayraktutar completed clinical fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Wills Eye Hospital and at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as well as a Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the University of Florida. She also completed a clinical cornea research fellowship at the New England Eye Center (Tufts). Internationally trained and FEBO-certified, she has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributed to book chapters, and reviews for leading journals. Her interests include ocular surface disease, corneal imaging, and surgical innovation. She provides evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s goals and welcomes patients of all ages.

Vikisha Hazariwala, DO ("Dr. Viki"), is a pediatric ophthalmologist who also cares for adults with eye muscle disorders. She enjoys partnering with families to treat amblyopia and strabismus, and helps patients with concerns ranging from congenital ptosis and tear-duct obstruction to pediatric cataracts. Dr. Hazariwala is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and joined Eye Physicians of Central Florida in October 2024. Dr. Hazariwala earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed an ophthalmology residency at Beaumont Health Taylor Hospital, and pursued fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at Lurie Children’s Hospital, Northwestern University. She offers a thoughtful, child-friendly approach and clear explanations at every visit, and collaborates closely with pediatricians and therapists when vision issues affect learning or development. For appropriate patients, she also provides options such as tear-duct procedures, eyelid surgery and corneal cross-linking for keratoconus. She welcomes children and adults seeking compassionate, specialized care for eye alignment, vision development and complex pediatric eye conditions.

Dr. Isabella Herrera is a pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for infants, children, and teens with medical and surgical eye conditions, and treats adult strabismus as well. She offers family-centered care with kid-friendly communication and practical guidance for parents. Her clinical interests include eye muscle disorders, double vision, amblyopia, and the full range of pediatric tear-duct and cataract problems, from diagnosis through surgery and follow-up. Dr. Herrera earned her medical degree from The University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency and fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She enjoys collaborating with pediatricians, neurologists, and therapists to support visual development. Families appreciate her patient, thorough approach and her focus on achieving durable, functional results that help children thrive at home and in school.

Dr. Austin Bach is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. He has performed hundreds of eye-muscle surgeries for both children and adults and maintains an active emergency and trauma ophthalmology practice. Dr. Bach earned a BA in Biology from Yeshiva University, a Master of Public Health from Tufts University, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University. He completed internship and ophthalmology residency at Larkin Community Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he also served as a clinical instructor.Dr. Bach provides comprehensive care for amblyopia, tear-duct obstruction, pediatric cataracts, ptosis, and complex strabismus, using evidence-based treatments and child-friendly examinations. He enjoys educating families about treatment options and tailoring plans to each child’s needs. In addition to clinical care, he is involved in resident education and community outreach across South Florida.
