Dr. Hampton Khanna is a fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for children with a wide range of medical and surgical eye conditions. A native of Maryland, she attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She then pursued specialized fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Khanna’s practice focuses on pediatric strabismus, amblyopia, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and retinopathy of prematurity. She works closely with families to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term visual goals in a clear and reassuring way. Her approach emphasizes early intervention, careful monitoring, and child-friendly communication so that young patients feel as comfortable as possible during their visits. Dr. Aditya Rali is a retina specialist serving patients in Tucker, Cumming, and Chamblee. He brings a wealth of clinical experience and research expertise to his role at Georgia Retina, where he is thrilled to return to Atlanta. His unwavering dedication, coupled with his compassionate approach, ensures that every patient receives the comprehensive care and attention they deserve. Dr. Rali has a passion for education and has served as a teacher and mentor throughout his academic and professional journey. He has conducted research in ophthalmology on a variety of topics including evaluating cataract surgery training, assessing stress levels for young surgical trainees, and better understanding the surgical learning curve. Dr. Rali’s work has been published in prestigious journals and he has presented his findings at international and national medical association meetings. Dr. Frank S. Ashburn is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who has cared for patients in the Washington, D.C. community for more than three decades. After earning his undergraduate degree from Yale and graduating Alpha Omega Alpha from Georgetown University School of Medicine, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Georgetown and a glaucoma fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Hospital. He has participated in landmark clinical research, including the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) and the Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study (AGIS), and has long been active in outreach for underserved communities. Today, Dr. Ashburn focuses on comprehensive glaucoma care, patient education, and in-office laser treatments, drawing on deep surgical experience to guide patients who need cataract or complex glaucoma procedures. He previously served as medical director of the Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation and the International Eye Foundation, and is recognized in regional and national “Top Doctor” lists. Patients value his thoughtful explanations, conservative approach to surgery, and commitment to long-term vision preservation.

Dr. Anjali Badami is a board certified cornea specialist at Washington Eye Specialists whose interests lie in adult corneal and refractive surgery, as well as cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. She is highly trained for cataract surgery including premium lens options and femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery, full thickness penetrating keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty including DSAEK and DMEK. She is also trained for office-based procedures such as collagen crosslinking, EDTA chelation and superficial keratectomy. A native of Saginaw, MI, Dr. Badami earned her undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, PA, followed by an internship and her residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. During residency, she was selected to be chief resident. She completed her training with a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Outside of work, Dr. Badami enjoys being outdoors, hiking and traveling.

Dr. Mehdi Tavakoli is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery, and strabismus care for adults and children. He treats complex disorders of the optic nerve and visual pathways, eyelids and orbit, and eye alignment, offering both medical therapies and advanced surgery. His practice also includes functional and cosmetic eyelid procedures and Botox injections for facial spasms and migraine. Patients appreciate his careful diagnostics, multidisciplinary coordination, and clear explanations of conditions that can affect both vision and overall neurologic health. Dr. Tavakoli completed ophthalmology residency at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, followed by an oculoplastic fellowship at Labbafinejad Medical Center (Shahid Beheshti University). At the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, he completed two clinical fellowships—pediatric ophthalmology & adult strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology—along with research in oculoplastic surgery. He serves as Associate Professor at George Washington University and directs the division of Oculoplastics, Neuro-ophthalmology, and Adult Strabismus.

Dr. Ruth Kebede Tessema is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with the Wilmer Eye Institute who provides patient-centered care at Johns Hopkins Medicine locations in Howard County and Frederick. Dr. Asadolah (Asad) Movahedan is a board-certified retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon with expertise in the medical and surgical management of diseases of the retina and vitreous. He evaluates and treats a broad range of retinal conditions, from chronic diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease to urgent problems like retinal detachment and ocular trauma. His care often integrates advanced diagnostic testing, in-office treatments, and surgical repair when appropriate. Dr. Movahedan earned his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and completed residency training at The University of Chicago Medical Center. He then pursued fellowship training in vitreo-retinal surgery at Yale University’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. He has a strong academic and research background, including work focused on complex retinal detachment and the biology of retinal disease.
