Dr. Scott Butikofer is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist caring for patients in Pueblo and Southern Colorado since 2017. He specializes in cataract surgery and precise intraocular lens planning, and manages a wide range of eye conditions with a calm, attentive manner. Dr. Butikofer completed his ophthalmology residency at the UMKC School of Medicine, where he was twice voted Consultant of the Year, following medical school at the University of Washington and a transitional year at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Dr. Nora Muakkassa is a board-certified ophthalmologist and medical retina specialist. She provides comprehensive ophthalmic care with a special focus on diseases of the retina. She has been serving patients in Colorado since 2019. Dr. Muakkassa completed her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and her ophthalmology residency and medical retina fellowship at Tufts Medical Center. She was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She previously served as an assistant professor at Tufts Medical Center, where she led the retina curriculum and trained residents and fellows. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Muakkassa co-founded OphthoGenie, an educational ophthalmology company, in 2019. She has published several scientific articles and presented her research at national meetings. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, cooking, and gardening.

He enjoys caring for families across the Four Corners region and speaks both Italian and Spanish. Dr. Ellen R. Miller is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in pediatric eye care and adult strabismus. She completed her undergraduate education at The Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude, and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Miller then completed her ophthalmology residency at the Havener Eye Institute at OSU and pursued advanced fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Miller is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the El Paso County Medical Society. She has presented her research at national meetings, including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). Dr. Miller is excited to provide comprehensive eye care to children and adults in Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Troy Teeples is an ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care with a focus on restoring and protecting vision. She then attended medical school at the Ohio State University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and graduated magna cum laude. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Tufts Medical Center/New England Eye Center in Boston. Dr. Dech is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and she has presented her research at national meetings. Dr. Dech practices comprehensive ophthalmology, specializing in the management of conditions such as cataracts, ocular surface disease, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and eyelid disorders. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, college football, dining out, and traveling with her husband, and they are expecting their first child.

Dr. Anderson is a board-certified ophthalmologist in Colorado Springs with advanced training in cataract surgery. A Colorado native, he discovered his passion for medicine early and graduated with honors from the University of Chicago, earned a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University, and completed his medical education at the University of Illinois. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cook County Medical Center, where he ranked in the top tier on in-service exams and demonstrated exceptional skill in cataract surgery, earning the role of Chief Resident. Following residency, he refined his expertise through a fellowship in Cornea, Refractive, and External Disease at Wake Forest University and participated in a medical mission to Honduras. Dr. Anderson has performed over 5,000 eye surgeries in the Greater Colorado Springs area, using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and the latest advancements in cataract surgery. Dr. Jared Smedley, FAAO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Arvada Eye Associates. Dr. Smedley earned his undergraduate degree at Weber State University and his medical degree from Michigan State University, where he was selected for the Leadership in Medicine for the Underserved program. Dr. Christian was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2019. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, which demonstrates her commitment to staying current in her field. As a Colorado native, Dr. Christian is dedicated to providing eye care to her local community. Her training and certifications allow her to offer comprehensive ophthalmology services.

Dr. Godin is from North Carolina and came to the Vail Valley when her husband joined faculty at the Steadman Clinic. She is thrilled to be a part of the Colorado Mountain Medical team and is enthusiastic about helping patients with their eyes and vision. While she is subspecialty trained in cornea and cataract surgery, she has a comprehensive ophthalmology practice at CMM and also evaluates and treats glaucoma and medical retina conditions including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Godin grew up playing competitive tennis which she still enjoys as well as spending time with family and friends. She and her husband have one young daughter.
